Simple distinction between consumer and industrial 3D printers

2022/01/18

In terms of the current domestic 3D printing industry, its products are generally divided into consumer grade and industrial grade. The former is used in the initial and entry-level stages of 3D printing technology; The latter is mainly used for industrial prototype rapid manufacturing and direct product manufacturing. So what's the difference between the two? Now let's distinguish the difference between consumer and industrial 3D printers from multiple dimensions:

Printing accuracy
Consumption level: at present, the main technologies are FDM and LCD, and the minimum printing accuracy is mostly between 0.3 and 0.6mm.
Industrial grade: there are many technologies, including DLP, SLA, SLS, SLM, etc. in addition to FDM and LCD; Servo motor is adopted to effectively avoid accuracy distortion; The minimum printing progress is mostly between 0.1 and 0.075mm.

Printing speed
Consumption level: 16 or 32-bit chips are mostly used. Taking SLA technology as an example, if 16 or 32-bit chips are used, the printing speed is 1m / s.
Industrial grade: basically 64 bit or more chips are used, or taking SLA as an example, its printing can reach 7 to 15m / s.

Print size
Consumption grade: the overall volume and size are small whether it is machine or printing molding.
Industrial grade: the whole is relatively large, which is more suitable for large-scale production.

Print success rate
Consumption grade: the highest at present, with a printing success rate of about 70%.
Industrial grade: basically more than 98%.

application area
Consumption level: suitable for education, makers and simple model making.
Industrial grade: aerospace, automobile production, hand mold, medical field, advertising industry, etc.
